You Should Book Your Thanksgiving Travel Now, Says Amtrak

With Thanksgiving and the holiday season right around the corner we all have travel on our minds, though it’s no secret how hectic traveling during the holiday season can be. Therefore, Amtrak is encouraging those planning their Thanksgiving travel via train to book now if they’d like to get their hands on the best seats and prices.

Each holiday season Amtrak sees an influx of straphangers–last year more than one million people rode Amtrak during the Thanksgiving Holiday travel period, reaching 97% of 2019 ridership levels. So, naturally, tickets sell quickly. It’s not surprising though with how comfortable an Amtrak journey is–after an easy boarding process riders can enjoy wide reclining seats with plenty of leg room, no middle seats, and the freedom to walk around and stretch their legs.

Plus, we all know how picturesque a fall train ride can be! Amtrak Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer Eliot Hamlisch stated:

Amtrak provides guests the opportunity to reach holiday gatherings in comfort, relaxed and far removed from the stress of congested highways and crowded airports…we invite you to experience Amtrak’s world-class service on your journey to friends, family and festivities.

To accommodate the upcoming traveler surge, Amtrak will deploy all available equipment during the holiday season, adding extra cars to Northeast Regional and Midwest trains and increasing trip frequencies between November 25th and December 2nd between a number of popular destinations along the Northeast Corridor (NEC), including NYC, Washington D.C., Philadelphia, and Boston, among others.

Travelers can book their tickets via Amtrak’s website, on the Amtrak mobile app, or at in-station ticketing kiosks.

Oh, and a word of advice: you’ll want to avoid Thanksgiving travel on these days to save time and money.
