West Village’s Nami Nori To Debut A Japanese Bakery Next Door
West Village’s Nami Nori, known for its temaki experience, is bringing some sweet news to New Yorkers with the opening of a Japanese Tea House, called Postcard, to launch next door to the restaurant on February 9th, first reported Eater.
For beverages, Eater outlined that Postcard will serve everything from matcha and soba cha, to loose-leaf sencha and black tea with optional boba, coconut jelly, and syrups for toppings. All teas will be sourced by Kettl Tea. Not a tea drinker? Postcard will serve coffee from AAPI-founded Coffee Project NY on their menu as well.
Treats will range from $3-$14—a bit cheaper than Nami Nori’s temaki sets that vary from $24-$32. And though Nami Nori already offers a few dessert options, customers will be able to indulge in raspberry mochi doughnuts, miso shortbread, black banana bread, and trendy chiffon cake fruit sandwiches at Postcard, in addition to some of the restaurant favorites, explains Eater. All items will be gluten-free.
Apparently, Nami Nori owners, Lisa Limb, Taka Sakaeda, and Jihan Lee, have been working on Postcard for years. The opportunity was practically kismet when the Nami Nori landlord asked the trio if they wanted to take over the available neighboring space, now designed by Sarah Carpenter & Studio. According to Eater, Sakaeda will be the one holding the whisk.
