What is Horizon of Khufu: Journey in Ancient Egypt?
Horizon of Khufu is a virtual reality journey through the necropolis of Giza, the famous site that hosts Egypt’s most famous pyramid. Accompanied by a virtual guide, you’ll wander into the mastabas — tombs of pharaohs past — to uncover secrets from the Ancient Egyptian monarchy. During the VR expedition, you’ll even attend the funeral of King Khufu, who reigned over 4,500 years ago! And of course, other Ancient Egypt landmarks come to life, like the iconic Nile River.
What makes the Pyramids of Khufu so special?
The Giza plateau hosts 3 pyramids of Khufu, each serving as hosts for the pharaoh’s afterlife. Egyptian rulers prepared for their passing by erecting impressive tombs for themselves at the heart of those pyramids, filled with artifacts and valuables they’d want to take with them.
King Khufu was the first to build a pyramid in Giza, followed by his son Khafre, who included the legendary Sphinx, and the third pyramid was built by (you guessed it) Khafre’s son. Each of those pyramids grant us a precious understanding of Ancient Egypt and its traditions.
