The World’s Bluest Lake Can Be Found In New York

It’s hard not to be jealous of the beautiful blue waters flooding our feeds from everyones summer in Italy, but did you know that the bluest lake in the world can actually be found in New York State?

According to a new study from Canada Casino, the bluest lake in the world is just over a five hour drive from NYC.

To carry out their study, they compared more than 80 of the world’s bluest lakes to the truest shade of blue, YInMn Blue (also known as Crayola’s “Bluetiful” crayon), to see which were the closest.

The results: Lake Ontario was found to be the bluest lake in the world with the least color difference to YInMn Blue. In fact, Lake Ontario was only found to have a 5.32 color difference.

Lake Superior came in second with a color difference of 7.63 and Moraine Lake in Canada was third with a 10.34 color difference. Another U.S. lake made it into the top 10, and that was Alaska’s Kenai Lake. Beyond that, the remaining lakes can be found in countries like Mexico, Chile, France, Russia, Kenya and Slovenia.

Eager visitors can experience Lake Ontario’s blue waters from Northern, Central and Western New York. Plus, Canadians get to share in the glory as the country also borders this Great Lake.
