The Tallest Building In The Country May Soon Be Built, But It Won’t Be In NYC

New York City is currently home to the tallest building in the United States–One World Trade Center, which stands 1,776 feet tall (1,792 feet to the tip)–but plans for a new structure, The Boardwalk at Bricktown, are underway which would tower over One World Trade Center by 115 feet!

According to the Oklahoma City Free Press, Matteson Capital real estate developers are not too keen on coming in second place, so they recently adjusted existing plans for a skyscraper they’re erecting to now not only be the tallest building in Oklahoma City, but the tallest building in the country!

Original plans called for the tallest of the building’s four towers to reach 1,750 feet, which would have made it the second-tallest building in the country, but adjustments will ensure the building instead reaches 1,907 feet.

According to the Press, Matteson Capital said in a statement, “The symbolic height honors the year that Oklahoma was admitted as the 46th state of the United States.”

AO Architects report that The Boardwalk at Bricktown will stand as a “mixed-use experience at the heart of a vibrant entertainment district.”

The ambitious development will occupy nearly 4 acres and be made up of three towers, each standing about 345 feet tall, along with a fourth tower reaching 1,907 feet above the ground.

Over 2 million square feet of residential, hospitality, retail, dining, and entertainment will be offered, including 1,776 residential units, two hotels, condos, and 110,000 square feet of commercial and community space.

Both the hotel and residential towers will feature their own unique luxe amenities, and the top floors of the building will include a restaurant and bar offering sweeping views of the city and even an observation deck.

The be approved, however, the issue goes beyond just simply requesting a variance. Instead, the company would need city officials to rezone the property entirely.

If approved, the structure would be the fifth tallest building in the world.
