Students leave with life lessons and new perspective at Disney Dreamers Academy
ORLANDO, Fla – Teens bid an emotional farewell at the commencement ceremony on the final day of the Disney Dreamers Academy at Walt Disney World on Sunday.
The four-day event concluded with a ceremony breakfast that featured speeches from Vice President of Travel Services, Pricing & Revenue Management at Disney Parks, Experiences, & Products and Disney Dreamers Academy Executive Champion Tracy Powell, Disney Dreamer alum Princeton Parker, celebrity ambassador and a performance by gospel artists Pastor Mike Jr. and The Walls.

Singer and actress Halle Bailey served as the Celebrity Ambassador for the Disney Dreamers Academy and spoke to the students about reaching their goals and the importance of what they learned over the weekend.

What you learned over this weekend are the lesson’s you’ll need not only throughout your career but for your entire life,” Bailey told the students. “The Disney Dreamers you’ve gotten to network with and engaged with, they are family now. We are family.”
At Sunday’s commencement ceremony, several student were recognized for their work during the Academy. Five Dreamers received the State Farm Good Neighbor Award: Octavia Carey, Mia Curry, Tavis Sanders and Natalyn Taylor and ZaNia Stinson.
Maria Maione of Egg Harbor City, NJ was awarded Dreamer of the Year and won an all expense-paid family vacation to Walt Disney World.
The ceremony ended with the parents giving the Dreamers rings as a symbol of their achievement and their pledge to strive for greatness.
The Disney Dreamers Academy is once-in-a-lifetime educational and mentoring program for a select group of 100 high school students. The students were selected from thousands of applicants nationwide.
Along with a parent or guardian, each teen received an all-expense-paid trip to Walt Disney World Resort, where they learned important networking skills and participated in hands-on career workshops.
