There’s more to New York City than just “the city”

Queens Tours

Queens County
Queens was originally named after Queen Catherine of Braganza. Officially founded in 1683 by Dutch settlers, it consisted of 5 neighborhoods: Flushing, Hempstead, Jamaica, Newtown (present day Elmhurst), and Oyster Bay. Queens is the easternmost borough of New York City and geographically the largest of the five. As one of the most culturally diverse cities in the world, Queens boasts incredible ethnic foods in neighborhoods like Jackson Heights and Corona. Learn about the affluent families that influenced the development of Queens including The Astors (Astoria), the Steinways (Steinway Street) and the Olmsteads (Prospect and Central Parks) and Sages (Forest Hills). Each neighborhood has its own identity, culture and historical significance.
