Polynesian & Samoan Cultures Collide At Williamsburg’s Stunning New Pool Lounge & Bar
The Polynesian has landed in Williamsburg by way of a brand new indoor/outdoor pool and lounge bar, Tatau.
The Samoan word for ‘tattoo’ in Polynesia, Tatau draws inspiration from the Polynesian and Samoan cultures of the South Pacific. That’s to say guests are treated to an alluring tropical oasis with mouthwatering bites that surround you in sunshine and warmth.
As for those mouthwatering bites, the colorful menu consists of light bites like Samoan Chicken and Coconut Rice, Grilled Pineapple Skewers, and Crab Napoleon, which make for the perfect poolside snack.
Plus the food options pair perfectly with their tiki-inspired cocktails, including frozen drinks such as the Frozen Zombie Beach made with Leblon Cachaça, Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum, Lairds’ Applejack Bonded Brandy, lime, and pineapple and original options like the Balinese Samba made with Leblon Cachaça, Butterfly Pea Flower-infused Banks 5 Island Rum, pineapple juice, coconut, lime, and mole bitters.
As for the atmosphere, the laid-back vibes of the Polynesian are in full force, sporting rattan furniture with moss-green upholstery, ambient lighting, and a lush array of tropical plants.
“We’re excited to bring a relaxing and unique experience for our guests and neighbors in our little piece of the borough,” says Hotel Indigo Williamsburg’s GM, Nicolas Daeppen. “Partnering up with our neighbors at Flyrite Tattoo gives the space an extra something special—sophistication and worldliness with a bit of edge, which is very Brooklyn.”
Tatau is located on the fourth-floor terrace of Hotel Indigo Williamsburg, offering guests quintessential Williamsburg views of the Manhattan skyline.
The pool deck is open from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. daily for hotel guests and ResortPass members, with limited walk-in availability.
The lounge and bar is open Monday – Thursday 3 p.m. – 10 p.m., Friday-Saturday 11 a.m. – 11 p.m., and Sunday 11 a.m. – 10 p.m. A guest DJ will perform Fridays through Sundays throughout the summer.
