The 33rd annual Malcolm X Black Power “Shut Em Down!” Rally and March took place on Friday, May 19, 2023. The yearly action commemorates and shows respect for the legacy of Malcolm X—El Hajj Malik El Shabazz—on the anniversary of his birth.

Businesses along the 125th Street main corridor in Harlem shut down between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. Activists also remembered Malcom X at his gravesite at Ferncliff Cemetery in Hartsdale, NY.
