A new study from BookRetreats, the world’s best retreat site, explored the most popular places for tourists to visit in 2024, and to no one’s surprise, NYC can be found at the top of the list.
BookRetreats examined four key tourist factors: popularity, experience, affordability, and safety. Each site was then assigned a score out of five to determine the best places for tourists to visit in the U.S. In order to be considered for the ranking, places had to a have at least 38,000 Google reviews. After delving into 77 of the country’s most popular sites, nothing can beat the beauty of Central Park’s 843-acres of green land.
New York City dominated the ranking, with seven of the best places to visit in the U.S. These include: Central Park, Times Square, Rockefeller Center, Brooklyn Bridge Park, The High Line, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, and Brooklyn Bridge.
Specifically, Central Park was awarded the best place to visit in the U.S.for tourists, according to BookRetreats’ 2024 U.S. Travel Report. It received the highest score of them all with a 4.075 out of 5. Overall, the park has a 4.8 rating on Google, with many visitors declaring its “the best park in the world” — though we already knew that.
And though us locals aren’t the biggest fans of tourists, we happily welcome you to visit the remaining top cities to visit in the U.S. According to the study, Washington D.C. follows behind NYC with six unmissable attractions to see. San Francisco comes in third, with Orlando ending in fourth.
BookRetreats’ 2024 U.S. Travel Report also divided their findings by best museum (Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History), theme park (Magic Kingdom Park), stadium (Fenway Park) and so on.
You can find more key findings from the report online.
