One of Mexico City’s most famous bakeries is in town for one weekend only

One of Mexico City’s most famous bakeries is in town for one weekend only

Earlier this month, the world’s first Michelin-starred taqueria came to New York for the first time, bringing its thinly sliced tacos to the city. Now, one of Mexico’s most famed bakeries is coming into town to celebrate Día de Muertos.

Panadería Rosetta will pop up at NoHo’s ATLA (372 Lafayette Street) from November 1-3. Honoring Día de Muertos, the bakery is bringing their signature dish: Pan de Muerto. A traditional Mexican sweet bread, the pastry is served weeks leading up to the holiday and is often left on home altars, or ofrendas, of those who have passed on. During the height of the season, Panadería Rosetta’s chef Elena Reygadas bakes up to 500 breads every day.

Sweetened with orange blossom and rolled in sugar, chef Reygadas will be doling out two versions of her Pan de Muerto: traditional and a blackened option, colored by corn husk ashes. Chef Reygadas is also baking up her Guayaba, or Guava Roll, with fresh guava jam and soft cheese. La Cabra coffee will also create a special coffee pairing for the occasion.

Doors open at 10am, and the goods will be available until they sell out. And trust us, they will sell out.

The relaunch has been a long time coming: when the museum closed years ago, setting up for a massive renovation by Selldorf Architects, it temporarily relocated to the Breuer Building on Madison Avenue and 75th Street until March of 2024.

Things are finally going back to normal with the revamping of the cultural institution’s original home.

According to an official press release, visitors will be able to look through the museum’s permanent collection inside restored spaces on the first floor while also walking around a new roster of galleries on the mansion’s second floor, open to the public for the very first time.

“The Frick Art Research Library and its refurbished Reading Room will reopen concurrently with the museum, with brand-new entry points on multiple levels that enable a seamless integration of the institution’s two branches,” reads the release.

The staff is preparing for a pretty busy inaugural season, which will include a whole slate of special installations and public programs, from a “a special commission by sculptor and ceramicist Vladimir Kanevsky of porcelain flowers that pay homage to the floral arrangements made for the Frick’s original opening, in 1935” to a weeklong music festival focusing on both classic and contemporary works, and an installation of paintings by Vermeer that will inaugurate the Frick’s new special exhibition galleries.

Overall, the massive $330 million renovation project has upgraded the Frick Collection’s infrastructure and look: the now restored “Gilded Age splendor” that has always defined the space is sure to excite and amuse guests moving forward.

Show What Makes You Beautiful At NYC’s Zayn Malik Look Alike Contest

Following the success of NYC’s Timothee Chalamet look alike contest, with an actual appearance from Timmy himself, comes the next hottie calling for Zayn Malik dopplegangers here in the city.

data-instgrm-permalink="https://www.instagram.com/reel/DBo0NfQSB31/?utm_source=ig_embed&utm_campaign=loading" data-instgrm-version="14" style=" background:#FFF; border:0; border-radius:3px; box-shadow:0 0 1px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.5),0 1px 10px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.15); margin: 1px; max-width:540px; min-width:326px; padding:0; width:99.375%; width:-webkit-calc(100% - 2px); width:calc(100% - 2px);">

The event will take place at Maria Hernandez Park on Sunday, November 17th between 3 – 3:30pm (times listed vary from Partiful invite and IG announcement).

A flyer, similar to the one put out for Timmy’s contest, went viral on X, promising the winner of the Zayn Malik look alike competition a complimentary tattoo from @hel.heart.

The official invitation can be found on Partiful, already with over 150 RSVPs.

After a difficult time for Directioners following the devastating passing of former band member, Liam Payne, this event will hopefully unite the fans and support the community in a time of mourning.

According to the Partiful invite, you’ll need to follow along on IG for the latest updates.

And though NYC-born Timothee Chalamet made a surprise appearance at the contest for him, it’s highly unlikely Malik will do the same as he resides in suburban Pennsylvania.
