Sorry, “Rat Boy Summer” and “Saturn Return Girl Summer” and whatever other nonsensical viral trend TikTok drums up this season—it’s officially “Hot Dog Summer.” (Or so says wiener lovers like us: we’re devoting an entire week to the meaty tubers right now.) And the folks over at Serendipity 3, the kitschy Lenox Hill favorite known for its massive Frrrozen Hot Chocolate and oversized Outrageous Banana Split, is getting in on the frank fun with an elongated celebration—literally.
The Upper East Side restaurant (225 East 60th Street) will debut five new footlong hot dogs to its menu this summer, with flavors ranging from the classics (the toppings-loaded Chicago-style dog) to the more madcap. (Mac ‘n cheese frank, anyone?)
Among the new sausage varieties, you’ll find a Buffalo footlong topped with zesty Buffalo sauce, crumbled blue cheese and chopped celery ($22.95); a colossal Chicago dog with traditional fixings like chopped pickles, crispy onions, diced tomatoes, red and green bell peppers and a side of mustard ($22.95); the “Italian Stallion” made with marinara sauce, mozzarella cheese, grated parmesan and micro basil ($23.95); and one loaded up with macaroni and cheese, panko breadcrumbs and grated cheddar-Jack ($25.95).
Those menu newcomers will join other existing footlongs, like a classic tuber drizzled with Gulden’s mustard and optional sauerkraut; the 12-inch Chili Cheese Dog (ladled with cheese sauce and Tex-Mex chili and sprinkled with Colby-Jack cheese and chopped onion); and the Bacon Cheese Dog (cheese sauce, chopped bacon and Colby-Jack). Each super-long frankfurter is served with French fries, coleslaw and pickles.

Port Authority Executive Director Rick Cotton hinted at a reduced or even free fare for the JFK AirTrain this summer and the verdict has finally been announced. Though passengers won’t get to ride the JFK AirTrain for free, they’ll be able to ride it at half the price.
Governor Kathy Hochul made the announcement that beginning July 1, the JFK AirTrain will cost $4.25—that’s half the cost of its current price! People will be able to pay the new fare at both Jamaica and Howard Beach stations. The fare reduction is in efforts to encourage people to take public transportation to the airport as JFK continues to undergo major construction with a record shattering 18 million passengers expected to travel through JFK this summer.

“With transformational construction underway at JFK, we’re taking steps to mitigate travel delays and affirm what’s always been true – there’s no better option than taking the train to the plane,” Governor Hochul said. “As we kick off a busy summer, we’re making it more affordable for travelers to utilize the AirTrain, offering New Yorkers and visitors from around the world the best-in-class travel experience they deserve.”
“In the midst of JFK’s monumental transformation, our priority remains ensuring travelers have reliable access amid peak construction,” echoes Port Authority Chairman Kevin O’Toole. “By halving AirTrain JFK fares this summer, we’re incentivizing public transit in order to ease congestion during record-setting travel volumes. AirTrain JFK will be the way to go in the months ahead, and the Port Authority is making it more affordable for customers throughout the region.”
In addition to JFK’s $4.2 billion Terminal 6, other transformations include a New Terminal One, a $1.5 billion expansion of Terminal 4, a $400 million expansion of Terminal 8, and a new ground transportation center.

The SeaGlass Carousel is at the very heart of Battery Park’s history. Originally home to the New York Aquarium from 1896 to 1941, the 2,575-square-foot shell-like stainless steel and glass structure we know today opened to the public in 2015. Standing at 9.5 feet wide and 13.5 feet tall, the edifice was designed by WXY Architecture + Urban Design with the underwater world in mind.
Intricately crafted fish modeled by the George Tsypin Opera Factory transport SeaGlass Carousel visitors to the tranquility of the ocean. Sitting atop one of these thirty motorized fish, visitors can get lost in color-changing LED lights and water effects as bubbly renditions of instrumental classics complete the immersive experience.

The Carousel stands at the southern end of Battery Park. The best way to get there is:
By bus: You can take the M5, M15, M15 Select Bus Service, or the M20 to South Ferry.
By subway: You can take the #1 to South Ferry, R to Whitehall Street, W to Whitehall Street on weekdays, or #4 and #5 to Bowling Green.
Driving directions: Take the last exit off the West Side Highway/West Street south just before the Battery Tunnel underpass or Exit 1 towards Whitehall on the FDR Drive.

Beware of the day & time
We recommend you come in the evening hours to enjoy the mesmerizing color-changing lights. Wait time for one of the 30 fish-shaped gondolas is typically short, but the SeaGlass Carousel remains subject to weather conditions. Since it’s also popular with families, weekends see the most crowds. Be sure to check on time and weather before paying the underwater world a visit!
Children, pets & accessibility
Two stationary fish are ADA wheelchair accessible, ensuring accessibility for all visitors. An adult must accompanychildren under 42 inches; both need tickets unless the child is 12 months or younger. Visitors with mobility restrictions or special needs may receive an exemption from waiting in line.
For safety, no strollers, bikes, scooters, or skateboards are allowed inside the Carousel. Visitors can leave their belongings in the designated store areas outside. During the ride, guests must keep their belongings inside the fish and wear seatbelts.
You must keep food and drinks sealed or in containers. Although Battery Park is dog-friendly, pets, including service animals, cannot enter the pavilion or the ride.
Tickets for the ride are available only in person at the venue. You can buy a single ticket or 10 tickets at a slight discount.
