Jay-Z’s 40/40 Club Shutters Original Location After Two Decades

Jay-Z’s 40/40 Club recently announced that they have closed its original location to relocate in the new year. A statement upon entering the website reads:

We are currently closed but will reopen at a new location in February 2024.

The famed club is named after Baseball’s 40/40 Club, comprised of legendary players who have hit 40 home runs and stolen 40 bases in the same season. There are only four members in this club to date: Barry Bonds (1996), Alex Rodriguez (1998), Jose Canseco (1988), and Alfonso Soriano (2006).

A combination of sports and hip-hop, the luxurious lounge offers a variety of experiences and event packages from Silver ($617.70) to The 40/40 ($5,196.75 value).

The club’s interior features iconic sports memorabilia from the WWF championship belt of Kurt Angle to the autographed gloves from the 1974 “Fight of the Century”: Ali vs. Frazier.

The Flatiron location may have been the first, but according to Eater, “There were five at peak: The original in Flatiron, a sports lounge in Las Vegas, a club in Atlantic City, a bar at the Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta, and a restaurant at Barclays Center in Brooklyn.”

Andrea Thomas, a spokesperson for the 40/40 Club told Eater that the club decided on the closure of the original location back in July. Though the new address is unclear to the public, stay tuned for more information to come.
