NYC is offering free tickets for Macy’s 4th July fireworks: here’s how to get them

NYC is offering free tickets for Macy’s 4th July fireworks: here’s how to get them

For the first time in several years, the Macy’s Fourth of July Fireworks are moving back from the East River to the Hudson River side of Manhattan, allowing those interested to catch the extravaganza across multiple vantage points between West 14th Street and West 34th Street.

That being said, a lot of the spots with the best views are hosting private parties or charging a lot of money to grant access.

There might be a way for you to enjoy the spectacle in all of its glory, though: New York City is giving away 10,000 free tickets for people to have access to prime viewing areas on Pier 45 and Pier 84.

RECOMMENDED: Where to Watch the Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks in 2024

Where to get free 4th July tickets

Free tickets just became available at 10am and you can find them here. They’ll be given on a first-come-first serve basis, and each person can only get two tickets at a time. The website might experience heavy traffic, so make sure to refresh and keep refreshing to snag a pass.

I didn’t get a free ticket. Now what?

By the time you read this the tickets might already be gone.

In that case, don’t worry: there are still plenty of places where you can watch the fireworks free of charge. Keep in mind that you won’t be allowed to bring backpacks or lawn chairs to these viewing areas for security reasons.

Note: West Side Highway entry points managed by NYPD

  • Christopher Street and Washington Street
  • West 11th Street and Washington Street
  • West 12th Street and Washington Street

  • West 41st Street and 11th Avenue

Hoboken

  • Pier A Park
  • Maxwell Place Park
  • Stevens Park
  • Elysian Park

I’m willing to spend money to get the best views. Where do I go?

There’s no shortage of viewing parties across the city if you’re down to drop a pretty penny. There are lots of cruises you can take that will give you a good view of the fireworks show and some of the best observatories in the city, including SUMMIT and One World Observatory, are offering package deals that include dinners and drinks with the fireworks show. Get free orange wine at this vino party on the Lower East Side

Get free orange wine at this vino party on the Lower East Side

Consider her the doyenne of New York’s orange wine scene: Doreen Winkler is the natural wine sommelier and premier expert on orange wine behind the Lower East Side vino mecca Orange Glou, the world’s first and only store dedicated to orange wines. (Wine 101: the orange kind is made with white grapes but in the style of a red, where the skins are kept in contact with the juice after pressing, giving the wine it’s dynamic funk and unique texture.)

And to celebrate Orange Glou’s third birthday, the somm will be pouring out free orange wine for thirsty New Yorkers this weekend.

RECOMMENDED: The 14 best wine bars in NYC have lists that are not to be missed

Orange Glou will have their free anniversary party this Saturday, June 29 from 3pm to 8pm at its downtown storefront (264 Broome St), where Winkler will be pouring more than a dozen unique and rare orange wines from around the world, including Ruth Lewandowski Anos, Julien Altaber Skinbull, Pittnauer Perfect Day and Muller-Koeberle Barrigure Brut Pét-Nat, plus some surprise bottles.

Those amber-hued swills will be paired with unexpected snacks throughout the event: think Cheetos with Fabien Jouves Skin Contact Maceration, an aromatic biodynamic wine from the South of France; or wasabi peas with a rare Portuguese pet-nat Bojo Do Luar Azal that’s also macerated on the skins. At the party, guests can also snag prizes—including T-shirts, glasses, totes, wine openers and candy—with every purchase of at least $35.

The Orange Glou anniversary party kicks off a summer of chef pop-ups and events, including a special collab with SuperVinoBros coming in August. And the shop’s popular, annual Orange Glou Wine Fair is also set to return this November, so stay tuned for boozy details on that one!

Severe Thunderstorms May Pummel NYC With Hail & Damaging Winds Tonight

Between last week’s scorching heat wave and the constant Red Alerts and Air Quality Alerts us New Yorkers have been going through it with the weather–and the crazy forecasts aren’t stopping yet!

A severe thunderstorm may be heading to NYC tonight, Wednesday, June 26th.

The National Weather Service says showers and thunderstorms are expected to move through tonight, bringing with them damaging winds and the possibility of large hail. Strong wind gusts in excess of 58 mph could damage trees and power lines and result in scattered power outages.

As with any thunderstorm, brief, minor flooding is possible, and the NWS says localized instances of flash flooding cannot be ruled out.

NOAA’s Storm Prediction Center has placed New York City at a Level 2 out of 5 severe weather threat.

As of now the NWS says the thunderstorm can occur any time between 3 pm through 11 pm tonight, Wednesday, June 26th. For the NYC metro area the greatest severe thunderstorm threat is during the evening rush.

FOX Weather Meteorologist Bob Van Dillen stated:

It’s going to hang in there overnight, and then by tomorrow (Thursday), we still have the showers out there for your early-morning commute. Things clear out just a little bit. Then it gets unsettled for the weekend.
