NYC’s First Dog-Friendly Cafe, Boris & Horton, To Reopen By A Former Customer
The saga continues with Boris & Horton after the NYC dog-friendly cafe announced its closure last February before the community fundraised $250,000 to save the it. Despite the fundraising, the Boris & Horton Williamsburg location closed last spring, followed by the East Village location at the end of last year. Now, it seems the cafe will be reopening under new ownership of a former customer!
Boris & Horton confirmed the ownership change on its Instagram, introducing new owner Carol and CEO Baja (her adorable pup ). Carol had left her corporate job in 2023 with sights on opening a dog business. However, once finding out the cafe was looking for new ownership, she jumped at the opportunity.

Though there’s no official reopening date as of yet, Carol and Baja shared they will keep the same space and brand, with a community-focused vibe.
The comments were overwhelmingly positive and encouraging, proving the dog-friendly cafe really is a beloved neighborhood staple.
Father and daughter duo, Coppy and Logan, are the founders of Boris & Horton, who named the business after their two dogs. Boris & Horton was the first dog-friendly cafe approved by the New York Department of Health. In addition to serving coffee, beer, and wine, the cafe historically offered space for various adoption events and fundraisers.
