MTA Drops 50,000 Limited-Edition Olivia Rodrigo MetroCards Next Week
Just two weeks after releasing limited-edition Victoria’s Secret MetroCards, the MTA has announced a partnership with Sony to release 50,000 limited-edition Olivia Rodrigo MetroCards. They’ll be the second of the final three custom MetroCards before the system moves on to a fully digital payment system.
The commemorative Olivia Rodrigo MetroCards were actually the idea of Rodrigo herself, who proposed teaming up with the MTA as part of the marketing around her LinkBuds collaboration with Sony. Rodrigo stated in an email to AdAge:
To be on one of the last ever MetroCards is super cool. I had so much fun shooting my Sony campaign on the New York City subway. I can’t wait to see my fans wearing these Sony LinkBuds designed in my favorite violet color.
Riders can get their hands on these limited-edition cards, which will be printed in the Gen Z pop star’s signature violet color and feature a photo of her with her Sony LinkBuds (also violet), on Monday, October 28th at the following stations:
- 34 St-Herald Square
- 14 St-Union Square
- Times Square-42 St
- 149 St-Grand Concourse
- Jay St-MetroTech
- 74 St-Broadway
- Jackson Heights-Roosevelt Av
Straphangers can also see ads promoting the new LinkBuds colorway around the NYC subway. And this isn’t the first time Olivia Rodrigo is making her presence known in NYC, last September she hosted an exciting pop-up in NYC to celebrate the release of her newest album ‘GUTS,’ and earlier this year in April she brought her ‘GUTS’ World Tour bus experience to NYC.
