As the holiday season approaches, a spirit of generosity has enveloped the community, bringing warmth to the hearts of those in need!
The temperatures in NYC are dropping rapidly as winter approaches, and these small businesses are doing their part to make sure that New Yorkers stay warm this season. 8 Bit Bites, Poetica Coffee, 7th Street Burger, Champion Pizza, and Brain Food announced that they have united to host a Winter Coat Drive with PCNY, inviting everyone to participate in this act of kindness.

The rules are simple—donate a new or gently worn coat at any of the 15+ participating locations and receive a free item as a token of appreciation.
The incentives vary across the venues, with 8-Bit Bites offering a complimentary chicken sandwich, Poetica Coffee providing a free cafe drink, 7th Street Burger offering a free burger (arguably one of the best burgers in NYC), Brain Food tempting contributors with a free smoothie and Champion Pizza giving participants a slice of pizza.
“Small businesses are the backbone of our community, and we believe that it’s essential to give back,” said Ali Ahmed, Owner of 8-Bit Bites. “This coat drive is an opportunity for us to join forces, help those in need, and create a positive impact during the holiday season.” said Hakki Akadeniz, Owner of Champion Pizza.
“Participating in this coat drive for homeless New Yorkers in our coffee shops is a part of our commitment to being socially responsible and deeply connected to our local community. We recognize that the streets of New York can be brutally cold during the winter, and we want to make a positive impact on the lives of those who are less fortunate. By providing warm coats, we aim to offer immediate relief and support to homeless individuals, ensuring they can stay warm and safe during the harsh winter months. It’s not just about serving great coffee; it’s about serving our community and making a meaningful difference in the lives of our fellow New Yorkers. “ shares Parvis Mukhamadkulov, owner of Poetica Coffee.
Donated coats will be distributed weekly at 9pm Wednesday nights at 243 w 34st with PCNY’s Feed The Homeless Project, as well as local shelters, migrants, and charities, ensuring that they reach those who need them most.
While 8-Bit Bites, Poetica Coffee, and 7th Street Burger’s coat drives will conclude on December 25th, Brain Food’s initiative will continue throughout the entire winter season.
To our understanding, you can pick up goodies at all participating locations with the donation of just one coat. If you need an incentive to be a good person this holiday season, this is it!
In the spirit of giving, the Winter Coat Drive will not only provide warmth to those facing the cold but also foster a sense of community and shared responsibility. Each donated coat is a symbol of compassion, creating a ripple effect of kindness aimed to echo throughout the season!
