Central Park’s Iconic Loeb Boathouse Fully Reopens This March

As an early spring approaches and we keep an eye out for temperatures warming up and cherry blossoms blooming there’s something else we can look forward to–Central Park’s iconic Loeb Boathouse fully reopening.

The Loeb Boathouse, which opened in the 1950s and has been a go-to dining destination within Central Park, closed down in October 2022 after rising labor and costs of goods caused significant financial strain on the business.

Rightfully so New Yorkers were devastated, though the sadness was short-lived as the iconic institution partially reopened in June 2023!

At the time of its partial reopening, NYC Mayor Eric Adams and NYC Parks Commissioner Sue Donoghue announced the establishment would reopen under a 10-year term with Legends Hospitality, the operations company founded by Yankee Global Enterprises and the owner of the Dallas Cowboys, Jerry Jones.

Amidst the partial reopening, the boathouse began offering a new cafe menu–ranging from $4 pastries to $25 lobster rolls–though ongoing renovations prevented the full restaurant from reopening, but now it’s set to do so on Monday, March 4th!

Executive chef Adam Fiscus will helm the kitchen, working alongside Dave Pasternack as consulting chef.

The restaurant will offer lunch, dinner, and Sunday brunch options in a space whose color scheme lends a nod to the bluebirds and other bird species of the park.

According to the New York Times, the main dining room will feature traditional Continental style dishes, such as oysters Rockefeller, stuffed mushrooms, fish and chips, prime rib with Yorkshire pudding, and cheesecake. Brunch dishes will include crab cakes Benedict, while an 80-seat outdoor cafe area will offer bites to go.

The institution will also offer dockside dining with a separate menu in the future.

A statement on their website reads:

We’re thrilled to announce our reopening, marking a new chapter in our story. Breathing fresh life into our beloved Boathouse, we are enhancing the experience like never before while still preserving the essence that makes us a long-celebrated part of New York City.

According to The Times, Central Park’s Loeb Boathouse fully reopens on Monday, March 4th. Learn more on their website here.
