Boris & Horton, NYC’s First Dog-Friendly Café, Has Officially Been Saved
NYC’s OG dog-friendly café, Boris & Horton, has been one of our favorite spots to hang with our pup since they first opened up in the East Village six years ago. So, naturally, we were all heartbroken when they abruptly announced their closing two weeks ago.
But now they have some paw-sitively good news!
Just last week owners Coppy and Logan launched a new campaign to help save both East Village and Williamsburg Boris & Horton locations, and it appears that they were met with success!
A post on their Instagram reads:
Thank you so much to everyone that supported this campaign. We’re thrilled that both locations will be reopening in the coming weeks and we’ll be sharing more details on what to expect very soon. We’re humbled and grateful and we can’t wait for what’s to come!

According to Gothamist longtime customer Amanda Gerzog started a GoFundMe to raise $20,000 for the business after being disheartened by the news of the closure, and the community rallied together to reach that goal in a week.
Coppy and Logan then created their own campaign, and raised $250,000 for the café.
Gerzog, who doesn’t own a dog, told Gothamist, “They are such a gem of an establishment. I work remotely, so I go there to get my little dog fix in.”
While the initial reason for closing wasn’t stated, Coppy and Logan said the money was needed for improvements like replacing the air conditioning, deep cleaning and repainting of the cafés, replacing furniture, new staff hirings, and, also, to pay employees while the cafés only (hopefully) temporarily closed.

Boris & Horton is here to stay (although we’ll be closed for a little bit)! You can still support Boris & Horton by becoming a supporting member or purchasing a subscription box. This goes a long way. We super appreciate all the help.
