Veselka Has Opened Its Third Location In Grand Central Terminal

Back in March of this year Veselka announced their plans to open two new locations in NYC this year–one in Williamsburg and one in Grand Central Terminal–and their Grand Central location is officially open for business!

Located in the dining concourse, the Ukrainian hotspot is offering all its delicious classics–from pierogis and borscht to cabbage rolls–to-go.

They’re even serving breakfast items, such as muffins, BEC pierogis, and bagels with smoked salmon.

Plus, sleep-deprived commuters can also get their much-needed caffeine fix with a cold brew or cappuccino, among other caffeinated beverages.

Veselka, which means rainbow in Ukrainian, was founded by Ukrainian refugees Volodymyr and Olha Darmochwal in 1954.  Since opening, they’ve grown from a small newsstand into a 24-hour gathering place, serving up traditional Ukrainian dishes.

Today, the restaurant is owned and operated by Volodymyr’s grandson, Jason Birchard. Throughout its 69-year history it’s been expanded several times, has been featured in many prominent films, and overall has become an iconic institution of NYC.

Next up to open is the Williamsburg location, at which point the East Villagehttps://secretnyc.co/what-to-do-in-the-east-village-nyc/ location, which hasn’t undergone a renovation in three decades, will temporarily close for a kitchen expansion.

According to their website, the Grand Central Terminal location is open Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 9 p.m., and Saturday – Sunday 10 a.m. – 7 p.m.

Eataly Is Opening A Massive SoHo Location This Fall

Sure, SoHo already has a Little Italy, but this fall it’s getting its very own Eataly!

News about a SoHo location first circulated earlier last year. And now, if you find yourself on the corner of Lafayette and Broome, you’ll catch a glimpse at the new signs in the window of the Soho Eataly at 200 Lafayette.

Currently, there are eight Eataly locations across the United States. The SoHo store will bring that number to nine locations nationwide. Two of the eight are already in NYC: one in Flatiron and the other at the World Trade Center. Both locations go beyond a typical restaurant experience, bringing customers events such as hands-on pasta classes and walk-around wine tastings.

NYC’s third Eataly will span a total of 18,353 square feet in SoHo. Shoppers will be able to peruse a wide selection of Italian and local products. Stay tuned for more information to come.
