The New York Accent Has Been Voted The Least Attractive In The Entire World

A new study found that out every place in the entire world, a New York accent was found to be the least attractive of them all. You’re telling us we ranked last for something—fuggedaboutit!

The global accent battle, published by Highland Titles, surveyed 1,000 Americans on their perceptions and opinions on accents around the world.

Unfortunately, the bad news continues as the study found significant evidence proving that attractiveness can be contingent on your voice. In fact, 71% of those surveyed shared that they were interested in dating someone with an accent.

So who’s looking to score best in the dating game based on their voice? The answer is Australians. I mean there’s a reason Chris Hemsworth and Hugh Jackman were both named the Sexiest Man Alive, as mentioned in the study.

Following New York in the least attractive accents is Boston, American Midwestern, Canadian, American South, Spanish, German, and Yorkshire. New York also ranked in the top 3 for the most annoying accents and the most boring accents.

To make up for this upsetting ranking, at least we can find solace in the fact that we were just voted the third best city in the entire world. So take that you Australians! But honestly, who are we kidding—we’re no more immune to your adorable accent than anyone else.

These NYC Hotels Are Two Of The World’s Best

Whether you’re looking to have your main character moment sipping cocktails and reading a book in a dimly lit corner of a hotel bar or you simply just, like, actually need a hotel to stay at, this one in NYC is in the world’s 50 best hotels–and in the top 25 no less!

And considering the list features hotels from 35 destinations across six continents, we’d say this feat is pretty impressive.

Those that made the list were awarded for their stellar hospitality, including that which was named the first-ever World’s Best Hotel (this is the first time The World’s 50 Best did a ranking on hotels).

That title, by the way, went to Passalacqua in Lake Como, Italy, which, consisting of 24 rooms in an 18th-century villa, “is a showcase of the finest Italian craftsmanship in a sumptuous riot of ornate Baroque elegance. Ceiling carvings, original frescoes, Murano chandeliers and perfectly manicured gardens: it all comes together in a sublime retreat.”

(P.S. you can get to Rome from NYC for under $300 with this airline!)

As for New York, our very own Aman New York in Midtown ranked in the 25th spot.

The ranking states:

Aman is known for its ultra-luxurious accommodations – and the luxe hospitality brand’s NYC residence is no exception. It’s a secluded, hushed and affluent outpost located within the historic Beaux-Arts Crown Building following a grand 2022 renovation, delivering comfort and space in the city that never sleeps.

Some of the amenities at Aman include:

Also on the world’s 50 best hotels list, though ranked lower down, was Equinox Hotel New York in Hudson Yards.

NYC’s Equinox Hotel ranked in the 48th spot. The ranking states:

Fitness giant Equinox opened its New York City hotel offshoot in July 2019 to create the ultimate temple to health and wellbeing. From its flagship gym, which spans a staggering 60,000 sq ft, to its nutrition and immunity-boosting food offerings, any guest who enters its doors is destined to leave healthier and happier than when they arrived.

Among some of Equinox Hotel’s amenities are:

  • Equinox Club
