Two Miniature Whole Foods, Perfect For Grab-&-Go, Are Heading To NYC
Two brand new Whole Foods outposts are making their way to Manhattan, and though they’ll be much smaller than the Whole Foods we’re used to they’ll blend seamlessly into a busy New Yorker’s lifestyle.
Back in March of this year, Whole Foods Market announced their plans to open smaller format stores as part of ongoing expansion, with the first expected to open in 2024, and now that time has finally come!
Last month (July 2024) Whole Foods Market CEO Jason Buechel celebrated the 20th anniversary of its first New York City flagship store which opened in Columbus Circle in 2004. The store marked a major step in the company’s expansion in New York, though the NYC celebrations didn’t stop there.
Buechel then announced two brand new Whole Foods locations heading to NYC, both of which will be those smaller format stores! Dubbed Whole Foods Market Daily Shop, the first of the two is set to open on the Upper East Side this fall with the second location eventually opening in Hell’s Kitchen.
The Whole Foods Market Daily Shop is a smaller format of the grocery chain’s usual store, ranging between 7,000 to 14,000 square feet–just a quarter of the size of the average store’s 40,000 square foot footprint.
A press release reads that the “quick-shop store format [is] designed to provide customers in urban neighborhoods a quick, convenient shopping experience with easier access to the fresh, high-quality offerings they expect from Whole Foods Market.”
The shops will feature a variety of fresh, seasonal produce, meat and seafood, prepared foods, essential grocery items needed to complete a meal, supplements, and more. Both will also feature Juice & Java, a venue providing coffee, tea, fresh-pressed juices, smoothies, sandwiches, soups, and various desserts.
The smaller format stores will certainly bring convenience to busy New Yorkers’ fast-paced lives.
Christina Minardi, Executive Vice President Growth & Development, Whole Foods Market & Amazon, stated:
At our new store formats, we’re tailoring every square foot to the unique, fast-paced needs of urban lifestyles. We’re excited to introduce a new way for our customers to quickly pick up their Whole Foods Market favorites – from grab-and-go meals to that last-minute dinner ingredient – making the early morning or after work grocery trips more efficient and enjoyable.
Upper East Side – 1175 Third Avenue (opening fall 2024)

10 NYC Bachelorette Party Ideas That Are Actually Worthwhile
There’s no better way to celebrate a bride-to-be than in the greatest city in the world…New York! If you’re planning out an itinerary in the city to celebrate, there’s so many great options that are perfect for a bachelorette group. From chic rooftop bars to high energy dance floors, there’s endless possibilities to create the perfect send-off! Here’s our list of best bachelorette party ideas in NYC…that aren’t tourist traps or a waste of time and money.
1. Night out at House of Yes
Nights on the town are an essential part of bachelorette parties, and NYC is no short of options. Our number recommendation for aa group is to head to House of Yes, a legendary venue and club in Brooklyn that showcases some of the best dance, circus, theater, and cabaret performances in the city. The former ice warehouse gets turned into a full experience, and throws some of the most over-the-top and fun theme parties in NYC. Depending on the night, you can get anything from “House of Grooves” a fun dance party with local DJ Eli Escobar to “Dirty Circus” a sexy cabaret show full of exotic dancers.
Of course if cabaret and circus isn’t your thing, opt for one of NYC’s other great nightclubs like the sky-high Somewhere Nowhere and the West Side’s rooftop club Le Bain.
2. Laugh at the Comedy Cellar
Get the girlies ready for a night of laughs at Comedy Cellar, one of NYC’s (and the world’s) most iconic comedy clubs. They welcome some of the best local and national talent onto their stage, so you never know what surprise you might get! Be aware that they can only accommodate parties of up to 8 at one time, and there typically are drink requirements per person during the show. Sit by the front and mention it’s bachelorette party and you may get some jokes thrown your way, or hang in the back and let the night unfold.
3. Create your own lipstick at Lip Lab

Looking for a hands-on experience that will entertain everyone in the group? Head to Lip Lab in SoHo, where you can book your own custom lipstick making experience! The bride-to-be can create her own custom shade (that she even may wear on wedding day) and the rest of the crew can enjoy whipping up their own shade with the help of their Color Experts. A custom lipstick session costs $65 per person and makes it easy for everyone to pay for their own custom creation! Learn more about the experience here.
4. Float through NYC on a hot tub boat tour
Ring in the occasion with one of the best ways to explore NYC on water…a hot tub boat?! Yes, the bachelorette and the whole party can reserve a 90 minute hot tub boat tour that cruises around NYC for an unforgettable experience. You’ll be able to get up close to Lady Liberty, view the stunning skyline from afar, and of course splash around in a relaxing hot tub. It’s perfect for planning since it comes with a wonderful crew, complimentary coolers, ice, water, and cups, dedicated Bluetooth speakers, a private bathroom and separate changing room, and more. Our recommendation is through Sea the City, which you can book here.
5. Dinner on a rooftop at Serra by Birreria
Every bachelorette party always has one main dinner, and why not have it at one of NYC’s most beautiful rooftop restaurants?! SERRA by Birreria sits atop Eataly in Flatiron, and the elevated dining experience can offer you and your group a lovely Italian meal that you’ll never forget. The seasonal decor is gorgeous and perfect for photo opps, and the elevated Italian cuisine, house brewed ales and signature cocktails make it the perfect place for the girls. See their full menu and inquire about group dining here.
6. Drinks at PHD Rooftop Bar
Rooftop bar hop to the bachelorette’s content with so many sky-high options to sip cocktails and celebrate. PHD Rooftop is just one of them we particularly love, thanks to their seasonal floral installations and Empire State Building views, but there’s so many to choose from. Some other notable ones to consider are Magic Hour Rooftop in Midtown, Westlight if you’re partying in Brooklyn, or 230 Fifth Rooftop in Flatiron. Check out our list of best rooftop bars in NYC here.
7. Pampering session at QC Spa
Pamper the bride-to-be along with the whole party at QC Spa, whose location on Governors Island can also be the perfect day trip! The spa is one of our absolute favorites in the city, and includes over 20 wellness spa experiences including panoramic spa pools, massages, steam rooms, and so much more. You can hop on a 5-minute ferry ride from downtown Manhattan (making it easy if your hotel is in the area) and book day passes easily. Learn more about QC Spa here!
8. Tacos on a boat at La Barca Cantina
Nothing beats taco and a boat, and La Barca Cantina can be the perfect option for you bachelorette party from a food perspective. The floating Mexican restaurant is seasonally open right now, and accepting groups of 15+ with advanced notice as well as smaller groups with reservations! The fiesta is perfect for any mezcal or tequila-loving bachelorette and the food and views of NYC are absolutely chef’s kiss. Learn more about La Barca Cantina and how to book your spot here.
9. Lunch at Tavern on the Green & Walk through Central Park
You can’t check out NYC without having a stroll through Central Park, and we recommend bringing the bachelorette to one of NYC’s prettiest spots, Tavern on the Green. It’s the perfect place to grab lunch during one of your days, having a lovely meal in either the picturesque courtyard or the cozy indoor dining room. You can even parlay it into row boats afterwards or a visit to Bow Bridge. See Tavern on the Green’s full menu and plan a group visit here.
10. See Moulin Rouge! on Broadway
Moulin Rouge is just one of the many incredible Broadway shows currently running right now, and seeing a show is a bucket list item! If the bachelorette and party are interested in seeing this magical production you can do with a block of group tickets! Be amongst the Bohemians and aristocrats and see why this show has won 10 Tony Awards® — including Best Musical! Inquire about group rates here!
