This Massive Coney Island Holiday Festival Will Return With A Market, Igloos, And Much More
The Luna Park Frost Fest is slated to return to Coney Island for the second year in a row, transforming the summertime hotspot into a winter destination.
While most associate a stroll on the boardwalk and a ride on the Cyclone with the warm weather, this seasonal sensation will make you experience the beachside neighborhood in a whole new light. And after a successful debut in 2023, the event certainly deserves a spot on all New Yorkers’ holiday to-do lists.
Luna Park Frost Fest 2024
So, what can visitors expect this year? Like Santa’s list, the number of offerings is extensive. If you want to glide through a winter wonderland, you’ll be pleased to know ice skating is on tap, as well as shopping through a holiday market filled with local goods, pictures with Santa for the little ones, and igloo rentals with food and drinks for parties of up to six guests.
And it wouldn’t be a trip to Coney Island without a loop on one of your favorite thrill rides, of course! (It is one of our favorite amusement parks in New York, after all.) There are select attractions you can enjoy during Frost Fest, including the Cyclone, Aeromax, the Coney Tower, the Tea Party, to name just a few. This is particularly alluring if you miss your favorite Luna Park pitstops during the cold weather months.
Swap the beach towel for a heavy coat and scarf and make your way down to Coney Island this winter. Visit the Luna Park website for more information and to sign up for ticket release information. The event will begin on November 23rd, 2024.
Select dates from November 23rd, 2024 to January 1, 2025

Grand Central Terminal gains a massive French brasserie
Passing through Grand Central Terminal is just a means to get to another destination—as its 700,000 daily commuters would likely attest. However, this historic landmark has given us plenty of reasons to bide our time there.
Found in the building’s southwest corner, The Campbell leads with highbrow cocktails among towering glass windows and a stone fireplace, earning a rightful spot on our best bars in NYC. Briny bivalves can be shucked and slurped at the 101-year-old restaurant, Grand Central Oyster Bar & Restaurant. And this month, the terminal gained another tenant, sure to ease the trials of traveling with its Parisian charms.
Grand Brasserie took over the former City Winery space on October 8. Designed by the Rockwell Group, it seamlessly blends into the historic architecture of Vanderbilt Hall and mimics the various sidewalk cafes found in Paris—the front of the restaurant welcomes with towering greenery and black and white bistro chairs. Passing through the wrought iron bar entryway, the main dining room houses red leather banquettes and enough chairs to seat a staggering 300 souls. As if that wasn’t enough, the 100-seat Green Room is decorated with black and white photos of New York’s past and features a grand marble bar with bottles that climb up to the ceiling.
Previously found in the kitchens of other French revues—including Bouley, Brasserie Les Halles and La Grande Boucherie—executive chef Guillaume Thivet brings a menu of Parisian staples, on offer during brunch, lunch and dinner. Mornings can begin with Lobster Omelette with smoked char roe beurre blanc or the Smoked Salmon Tower for the table, with bagels, cream cheese, tomato and cucumber. Lunch-forward specials call for salads and sandwiches like the Croque Monsieur and French Dip.
Dinner is broken up by hors d’oeuvres, salads and sandwiches and a section dedicated to steak frites with your choice of cut, including filet, entrecôte and skirt steak. The fruits of the sea come in the form of two- and three-tiered seafood towers, while caviar service is on offer if you need a bump before boarding. But if you just need a bit of liquid courage before your journey ahead, you can sidle up the bar for classic cocktails or a wine list that runs 400 bottles deep. Even the late-night traveler can find refuge here, as service ends at 3am. No matter what time of day, this massive brasserie is ready to seat you and feed you.
A Minnie Mouse Balloon Will Debut At The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade For The First Time In The Event’s History
It’s been 100 years in the making! Minnie is en route to Midtown for the 2024 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, a tradition that dates back all the way to 1924.
Although it’s hard to believe that one of Disney’s most notable leading ladies was never given a balloon in the annual parade, she will finally get some well-deserved time in the spotlight this year. Jeff Shelly, the company’s director of character art, is responsible for bringing the lil’ mouse to life on a larger scale — 60 feet, to be exact — capturing her quintessential red polka dots and effervescent spirit. Needless to say, we can’t wait.
“Macy’s and Disney have created magic together for ninety years, establishing a legacy that is beloved across multiple generations,” said Nata Dvir, chief merchandising officer at Macy’s.

To coincide with her parade debut, the department store has dedicated Mickey and Minnie Shops in 200 stores nationwide and an exclusive collection for fans of all ages. Think Kate Spade leather crossbody bags with Minnie motifs, pink majorette sweaters, and red midi dresses (naturally) to name a few selections.
Should your little ones be big Mouseketeers, you’ll also find Minnie alongside Mickey in a Disney Cruise float, so be on the lookout whether you’re on the city streets or watching from home. Though a lot smaller in size, this Minnie will be equally loved by parade spectators.
Chrissy Anderson, Vice President, North America Brand Commercialization at Disney Consumer Products added, “Fans of all ages will have the chance to welcome Minnie Mouse and her signature charm as she makes her debut in this year’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.”
We don’t know about you, but we know where we’ll be on Turkey Day before getting dinner prepped: waiting for Miss Minnie. Will we see you there?
