15 Best Breweries In NYC You Need To Check Out This Year
While Manhattan is a bit too cramped for such an endeavor, the outer boroughs of NYC are full of craft beer breweries that you can swing by for a visit! Stop by many of these independent brewers and behold their creations, which range from refreshing IPA’s and lagers to stouts and ales. With the warm weather approaching this spring, there’s never been a better time to stop in for a local pink. Check out our list of what we deem the 15 best breweries in NYC and stop in today:
1. SingleCut Beersmiths, Astoria
SingleCut was Queens’ first microbrewery and was actually the first to open after Prohibition. Their draft list is extensive and they also have a selection of house canned beers. The Nice Ale (a golden ale) is a nice beer to start off with, although they have stouts and lagers with a heavier percentage of alcohol for the true beer enthusiasts. Learn more here.
Where: 19-33 37th Street, Queens
2. Evil Twin Brewing, Ridgewood & DUMBO
Evil Twin Brewing is most known for their sours, as well as their hilariously named lagers, ales, and stouts. Sip on NY-focused cans of greatness like a hoppy IPA called “MAD BRICK” IS JUST THE NEW YORK WAY OF SAYING “IT’S REALLY COLD” or even double IPA named IT’S “BACONEGGNCHEESE”, NOT “BACON, EGG, AND CHEESE.” It’s greenhouse-like atmosphere makes it perfect for a warm day, and sometimes they even have food trucks out front to pair with your drinks! See them all here.
Where:
Ridgewood – 1616 George St, Queens
DUMBO – 43 Main St, Brooklyn
3. Brooklyn Brewery, Williamsburg
You’ve definitely tried a Brooklyn brew at some point. Their classic Brooklyn Lager is a staple across NYC and even the world, reaching even the hippest of bars in Europe. However, their taproom in Williamsburg hosts a bunch of lesser-known brews like the Bel Air Sour or the fruity Pulp Art Imperial IPA. You can even take a free tour on Sundays from 1 – 6 pm. Plan your visit here.
Where: 79 N 11th St, Brooklyn
4. TALEA Beer Co., Williamsburg & Cobble Hill
TALEA is a proudly woman-owned brewery with taprooms in both Williamsburg and Cobble Hill! Founders Tara and LeAnn happily serve beers that are at “the intersection of high quality and low-bitterness with fruit-forward flavors.” You can stop into either location and try out concoctions like the Banana Split Tart Deco or Watermelon Wheat Ale, or you can take some cans to go! Learn more and check out their beers here.
Where:
Williamsburg – 87 Richardson St, Brooklyn
Cobble Hill – 61 Bergen St, Brooklyn
5. Fifth Hammer Brewing, LIC
Fifth Hammer is the most recent of the breweries to pop up in Queens and boasts a diverse range of beer styles—from sour beers to barley wine. Their 15-barrel brewing system allows for a large selection of beers to be made at any time. Plus, they’re open 7 days a week! Sunday day drinking? Check! View their selection here.
Where: 10-28 46th Avenue, Queens

Ever heard of “No Nonsense Ales”? Well, this is where they come from. The Bronx Brewery opened in 2011 and since then has been producing some of the nicest pale ales that you’ll find in New York. You can sample them yourself at their Bronx tap room which is open 7 days a week or at their other locations and various bars in and around the city that have them on tap. Browse all their flavors here.

Where: 39-28 23rd St, Queens
9. Torch & Crown Brewery, SoHo
Many call Torch & Crown Brewery “Manhattan’s brewery” and rightfully so, it’s one of our favorites! After being founded in 2018, founders Joe Correia and John Dantzler have been serving up hops inspired by our busy city ever since. They have some permanent pale ales under their belt as well as a bunch of seasonal rotations that include IPAs, stouts, pilsners and more. We recommend coming for a sports game or stopping in for a bite, because the food is yummy too! Plan your visit and view beers here.
Where: 12 Vandam St
10. Gun Hill Brewing Company, The Bronx
Gun Hill Brewing Company is the oldest brewery in the Bronx. Stouts are the sought after brew at this hot spot but they have a range of 16 and 12-ounce drafts on tap, from IPA’s to Ciders to Ales and Pilsners. Check out all their options here.
