These Are NYC’s Most & Least Sought After Neighborhoods

House daydreaming is no joke, and many of us would admit we’ve spent a shocking amount of time browsing homes in neighborhoods that likely would never be a reality. But have you ever wondered if the neighborhoods you’re searching online are also the source of other people’s daydreams?

Well, HouseFresh did.

HouseFresh analyzed Zillow sale listings from America’s 100 most populous cities and identified a few key factors, including each home’s neighborhood, the number of days the home was listed on Zillow, and the number of page views the home listing received.

After averaging out each number, HouseFresh was able to determine which cities are the most desirable, and which cities don’t exactly get much love.

According to the study, NYC’s most desirable neighborhoods are:

  • Upper East Side
  • Upper West Side
  • Chelsea
  • Forest Hills
  • Flushing

One of the most affluent and culturally rich areas of New York, the Upper East Side (24,125 daily views) is also the citv’s most popular neighborhood. Its desirability could be down to its community of movers and shakers, or perhaps inspired by countless appearances of it in popular culture.

This area of NYC also made a pretty good name for itself in the U.S. overall.

When looking beyond just NYC, the Upper East Side finds itself as the fifth most desirable neighborhood in the U.S. overall, behind Northeast Dallas, Dallas, Hollywood Hills, LA, Camelback East, Phoenix, and La Jolla, San Diego.

On the opposite side of the spectrum we have NYC’s least desirable neighborhoods, which are:

  • Fordham
  • Arverne
  • Seagate
  • Pelham
  • Brookville

Compared to the Upper East Side’s 24,125 daily views, Fordham in the Bronx gets just 79 daily views.

The good news is that you may be able to keep daydreaming about living in one of these neighborhoods, as at least not all of them are NYC’s priciest neighborhoods.
