NYC Is Home To The Best Pizza In The World — Here’s Where To Grab A Slice

Apologies Chicago, Detroit, and beyond: the best pizza in the world is right here in NYC.

Hey, we didn’t make it up — we’re just stating facts.

According to the recently released Top 50 Pizzas in the World, Una Pizza Napoletana took home the gold.

Are we surprised? Nah.

Not only is it one of the best pizza spots in NYC, but the restaurant was also named the best pizza in the country. It’s only natural that the Orchard Street outpost would progress to top global status as well.

New Jersey native Anthony Mangieri championed Neapolitan-style pizza, and now his restaurant is beloved for its naturally-leavened, wood-fired pies. (Oh yeah, there’s homemade ice cream, if you have a sweet tooth and room after your meal.)

The best pizza in the world

So, who followed Anthony’s footsteps and earned a top 10 slot on the list? You might want to grab your passport.

  1. Una Pizza Napoletana: New York, NY
  2. Diego Vitagliano Pizzeria: Naples, Italy and I Masanielli – Francesco Martucci: Caserta, Italy
  3. The Pizza Bar On 38th: Tokyo, Japan
  4. Confine: Milan, Italy
  5. Napoli On The Road: London, England
  6. Tony’s Pizza Napoletana: San Francisco, California
  7. I Tigli: San Bonifacio, Italy
  8. Sartoria Panatieri: Barcelona, Spain
  9. 50 Kalò: Naples, Italy
  10. Seu Pizza Illuminati: Rome, Italy

If you still find yourself hungry after perusing the top 10, the 2024 Guide to the Top 50 Pizzas in the World will give you plenty of inspo, with selections near and far.

While we’re certainly delighted to take this slot, it’s worth noting that reservations at Una Pizza Napoletana go quickly, and the team is currently traveling in Italy, so the restaurant is closed until October 3rd. Once October 4th rolls around, you better believe we’ll be lining up for a bite.

If you were thinking about something else for dinner, New Yorkers also just found out that the second-best burger in the world is right here in NYC. (We’ll gladly reclaim that gold medal in 2025.)

A New Barbie Exhibit Is Heading To NYC With A Life-Size Mirror-Pink Corvette

Grab your pinkest outfit: a Barbie exhibit is on its way to NYC in a few short weeks, and we couldn’t be more delighted about its arrival.

What better way to keep the doll’s 65th anniversary celebration going?

We just indulged in the eye-catching and irresistible Krispy Kreme Barbie doughnuts, so it feels only right to honor our leading lady with even more dedications.

The Museum of Arts and Design, a creative gem in Columbus Circle, will do the honors of hosting Barbie®: A Cultural Icon, which is sure to rise to the top of best NYC exhibits.

“More than simply a toy for make-believe and role play, Barbie has responded to and reflected nearly every significant social advancement over the last six decades,” Tim Rodgers, Nanette L. Laitman Director, Museum of Arts and Design, said in a statement.

Visitors will find a lot to love in this hidden gem of a museum: 250 vintage dolls, life-size fashion designs, advertisements, exclusive video interviews with the doll’s designers, and so much more.

“We are tickled ‘pink’ to welcome Barbie to the MAD this fall,” Rogers added. “The Museum has long been interested in the cultural impact of art and design in all spheres, including pop culture.”

Should you appreciate a good selfie, you’ll be pleased to know a life-size Barbie Mirror-Pink Corvette is zipping into the space, and it has your name written all over it.

The museum notes there are more memorable moments along the way, like fashion looks from the ’70s to the 2000s, the creation of the Barbie Dreamhouse, and learning how Christie, the first Black doll, and Ken came to be.

We’ll see you in Midtown this October. Visit MAD online for ticketing information.

It’s your last chance to visit Fotografiska at its current NYC location

It's your last chance to visit Fotografiska at its current NYC location

For the past five years, photography museum Fotografiska has showcased some of the most ground-breaking, renowned and powerful images in its historic Flatiron District location. Now, you’ve got just a few weeks to visit the ornate building and its remarkable shows before the museum relocates.

Fotografiska New York will cease operations in its current building as of September 29. Though the museum plans to relocate, officials haven’t yet announced its new home in New York City.

Before the museum packs up, head to 281 Park Avenue South to see Vivian Maier’s “Unseen Work,” the first complete presentation of her work in New York. The show is packed with 230 photographs and video clips that explore the late artist’s extraordinary talent that was largely unknown until after her death. The images range from the early 1950s to the late 1990s, documenting post-war America and the facade of the American dream.

Also at the museum, see a display of Bruce Gilden’s archival works in “Why These?” and check out Jean-Andre Antoine’s debut solo museum exhibition, “From Prince St. with Love.” In addition to these exhibitions, Fotografiska will offer special programming during its final days.

As the month winds down, the museum will close its doors on Park Avenue. Fotografiska officials said their current space didn’t allow them to showcase imagery in the way they’d like to. The building’s walls are only 9 feet high, as compared to 12-foot walls at Fotografiska’s sister sites in Berlin, Shanghai, Stockholm, and Tallinn, as Artnet reported. That limits what the museum can show, and it’s even halted some projects by big names, the site reported.

As an institution, Fotografiska was founded in Stockholm in 2010, and it’s expanded from there. Its mission is to create “a destination to discover world-class photography, eclectic programming, elevated dining, and surprising new perspectives.”
