The New York Mets have introduced a fun new attraction for fans at Citi Field: a commemorative purple “Grimace” seat. This unique tribute celebrates the Mets’ unexpected seven-game win streak that began after Grimace, the McDonald’s mascot, threw out a ceremonial first pitch on June 12, 2024.

The Mets’ record since that day has been remarkable, with a 54-31 streak, the best in Major League Baseball. This has catapulted them into a fierce playoff race, the same week they announced their new flexible ticketing plan.

How did Grimace become a part of Mets history?

The purple Grimace seat pays homage to the surprising connection between the Mets’ success and the famous McDonald’s mascot. Grimace has now joined iconic characters such as Mr. & Mrs. Met.
