An Intergalactic Roller Rink Nightclub Hybrid Has Opened In Bushwick
Things are getting groovy down in Bushwick as Xanadu Roller Arts, a psychedelic roller rink and nightclub, has officially opened its doors to New Yorkers!
The 16,000-square-foot space touched down in Bushwick on Friday, June 28, bringing with it a one-of-a-kind experience–they refer to themselves as an “intergalactic cruise ship” on their Instagram. It only makes sense considering Varun Kataria, the founder of Bushwick’s over-the-top Turk’s Inn and Sultan Room, is also the one behind this new venue.
And not only is Xanadu Roller Arts NYC’s only year-round indoor roller rink, it’s also a full entertainment hub that doubles as a 1,000-capacity nightclub and music venue.
Kataria stated:
While roller rinks and concert venues are not uncommon individually, Xanadu provides a seamless integration of these experiences, with an unwavering dedication to artistic expression, and meticulous attention to detail in our programming, quality, and human-centric design. We blend these elements into an experience that is both singular and transcendent.
And the venue’s interior certainly is transcendent. Vibrant walls, colorful neon lights, and out-of-this-world (literally) carpets make guests feel like they’ve been transported to a different dimension.
The venue’s top-of-the-line roller rink is certainly the heart of the space, welcoming skaters of all ages during the day before switching over to 21+ by night (except on Sundays, which will also be all ages).
Though the space’s music venue, which features a massive stage for musicians and performers with world-class sound and lighting systems, is just as impressive.
The other side of the venue houses a bar and restaurant serving creative food overseen by Turk’s Inn chef Josh White. The menu is anything but pretentious, featuring all the bites people associate with roller rinks. Think: dishes like a hot dog topped with a pierogi, popcorn dusted with garam masala, and tuna tartare Frito pies, according to Eater.
To drink, skaters can expect both non-alcoholic options, such as fresh-pressed juices like celery, along with cocktails developed by Turk’s Inn beverage director, Keri Smith, including an Old Fashioned that tastes like caramel popcorn and Skaterade, a fun take on Gatorade made with blue spirulina and aloe.
And, according to their Instagram, their bar is more than just a bar–it’s a “portal to another dimension.”
