None of us were shocked to learn that NYC is the noisiest city in the U.S., but which neighborhoods helped our favorite place earn this superlative? We’ll break it down for you.

Whether it comes to congestion, nightlife, or just regular ol’ business as usual in the city that never sleeps, things can get hectic. According to public 311 data gathered by The New York Times, certain locales received more noise complaints than others, so plan accordingly if you’re thinking about a move in the near future.

  • Bronx District 12: Edenwald, Wakefield, Williamsbridge, Woodlawn, Fish Bay, and Eastchester with 73,014 calls
  • Manhattan District 12: Washington Heights and Inwood with 31,982 calls
  • Manhattan District 7: Manhattan Valley, Upper West Side, and Lincoln Square with 26,369 calls
  • Manhattan District 10: Central Harlem with 24,059 calls
  • Brooklyn District 1: Williamsburg and Greenpoint, Flushing Avenue, Northside, and Southside with 21,365 calls
