This Viral NYC Bagel Shop Could Potentially Face Eviction Because Of Its Long Lines

Apollo Bagels, NYC’s best according to Yelp and The New York Times, just might be getting a little too popular.

The shop’s West Village location at 73 Greenwich Street has seen such excessive lines that the company’s landlord, BLDG Management Co., has threatened to evict the beloved pop-up-turned bagel shop for allowing its customers to block neighboring doors. Per reports, BLDG Management Co. has received complaints from other tenants about the large crowds and will cancel the lease by November 30th if Apollo fails to reorganize its lengthy lines, which they suggest moving over towards 11th Street.

But the fight is not over, as Apollo’s owners filed suit in Manhattan Supreme Court in attempts to halt their eviction. In response to the news, the bagel shop has also been working to up signs and ropes to cordon off customers, and has even elicited help from a line monitor to oversee the situation.

Since the West Village storefront opened in August of this year, it’s only become more and more popular. Regardless of the location, Apollo is quite used to selling out, and quickly, to boot. The famous sourdough is the shop’s claim to fame, and what sends hungry New Yorkers into overdrive.

Here’s hoping a deal is reached because we are not ones to refuse ourselves a treat on Saturday mornings.
