Bakers From All Boroughs Compete To Make The Ultimate NYC Scene Out Of Gingerbread

The third annual “Gingerbread NYC: The Great Borough Bake-Off” has arrived to brighten the holiday season at Museum of the City of New York.

Amateur and professional bakers have come together in an epic bake-off to showcase their gingerbread mastery. The 2024 competition features gingerbread creations from 20 incredible bakers spanning the five boroughs. There’s a total of nine bakers from Manhattan, six from Brooklyn, three from Queens, and one from both Staten Island and The Bronx.

Each baker is tasked with the challenge of recreating NYC sites, symbols and spaces that represent their community or borough through the construction of gingerbread. Their creations are on view at the Museum of the City of New York from now through January 12, 2025.

Judges of The Great Borough Bake-Off range from owners of local iconic establishments such as Bobbie Lloyd, CEO and Chief Baking Officer of Magnolia Bakery and Melba Wilson, Owner of Melba’s Restaurant to Nadine Orenstein, a former judge of the National Gingerbread House Competition in Asheville, NC, Jonah Nigh, semi-finalist on NBC/Peacock’s Baking It (Season 1) and more!
