JFK To Welcome The First Eataly At Any U.S. Airport By 2025
The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, along with American Airlines and Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield (URW) Airports, have just announced a lineup of 21 hot new brands to open at JFK’s Terminal 8, continuing efforts to transform one of the busiest transportation hubs in America to a world-renowned airport and global gateway. One of the brands includes the beloved Italian marketplace, Eataly, marking the first U.S. airport location to date.
Customers will be able to experience the beautiful culture and delicious tastes of Italy, regardless of their final destination. The first U.S. airport Eataly will include a full-service restaurant, adjacent to a wine bar that will offer antipasti, pasta and Neapolitan pizza.
For passengers in a hurry, there will even be an Eataly grab-and-go section, filled with coffees, portable favorites and a curated selection of Eataly retail products. Eataly at JFK will join the company’s three other NYC locations: SoHo, Flatiron & Downtown. Not to mention, there’s a Hudson Yards location is in the works for next spring!
“Airports are the front door to our region and as such it’s important that travelers from around the world get to experience the culture, traditions and diversity that make this region unique while they’re at JFK,” said Port Authority Chairman Kevin O’Toole. “Empowering local and diverse businesses to join our concessions program at the airports helps to create the world-class travel experiences passengers have come to expect.”
The incoming brands are all part of JFK’s Terminal 8 $125 million commercial redevelopment program with a focus on uplifting diverse local businesses. Other notable mentions heading to Terminal 8 include Peach Palace by Momofuku (another U.S. airport first), Black Tap, Alidoro, Dos Toros Taqueria and Harlem Chocolate Factory.
“The brands coming to JFK’s Terminal 8 over the next year will make for an unforgettable customer experience,” said Amanda Zhang, American Airlines Vice President of Airport Affairs and Facilities. “The wide range of dining and shopping offerings means there is something for everyone to enjoy, all while allowing passengers from around the world to get a taste of what Queens, New York City and New York state communities have to offer.”
Come 2025, JFK will open more than 60 new concessions in phases. In the same year, JetBlue will open its first-ever airport lounge at JFK.
