Lyft Debuts Pet-Friendly Rides So You Can Carpool With Your Furry Friend

For years, riders and drivers have been asking for it, and now, Lyft has not only listened, but granted their wish! Introducing Pet rides: a new feature that matches riders with compatible drivers and pet-friendly cars.

At Lyft, we believe that everyone belongs, and that includes our four-legged family members,” said Audrey Liu, EVP of Rider Experience at Lyft. “Whether you’re heading to the vet, the park, or just out for a day of errands, you can now bring your beloved pet with you, knowing that they’ll be paired with a driver who is ready to get them where they’re going,” echoed Lyft in their press release.

What else is there to know?

Lyft hopes to encourage pet adoption through this new feature. Therefore, riders can score discounts and promotions during the launch period by adopting a pet from participating shelters working with Lyft.

“We are thrilled to partner with Lyft to introduce Pet rides. As a foster-based rescue without a physical shelter, this initiative will help our fosters immensely with transporting animals to our events, where they can meet potential adopters,” said Grace Coleman, Operations Volunteer at Waggytail Rescue. “We are also dedicated to rehabilitating animals in need, and Pet rides will help us get our fosters to vital vet appointments.”
