NY Is One Of The Most Fun States in America, According To Study

Us New Yorkers are obviously the best at everything, like having fun–there’s a reason why NYC is called the City that Never Sleeps–and this new study is proving just how fun we are! According to a new study, New York is the fourth most fun state in America with a total score of 58.01. Okay, so we may not have come in first (contrary to our personal opinions) but we did make it to the top five.

As for how NY ranked on a more specific level, we came in second in the nightlife ranking and third in the entertainment and recreation ranking.

Out of all 50 states, New York has the second most restaurants per capita (just behind California), though that isn’t much of a surprise with all of the beautiful restaurants, rooftop restaurants, waterfront restaurants, and all the other restaurants you can discover in NYC alone.

New York also has the third most movie theaters per capita, the fourth most golf courses & country clubs per capita, the most performing-arts theaters per capita (tied with California), the fourth most fitness centers per capita, and the second most marinas per capita.

Who knew we were so versatile (well, besides us, of course)!

As for the most fun state overall, that title went to Florida–that’s probably why New Yorkers apparently want to move to Florida the most! Guess we’ll have to pay our friends over in Miami a visit more often.

In order to determine the most fun states in America, WalletHub compared all 50 states across two key categories: Entertainment & Recreation and Nightlife.

Each category was then evaluated on a number of metrics–such as Amusement Parks per Capita, Number of Attractions, Average Beer & Wine Price, and Music Festivals per Capita–to give each state an overall score out of 100.

The data was collected from the U.S. Census Bureau, U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis, National Park Service, TripAdvisor, and more. See the full study here.
