A Dolly Parton-Inspired Musical Is Coming To Broadway

American singer and superstar, Dolly Parton, just announced a musical based on her life is coming to Broadway. Named after the singer’s 1976 debut album Hello, I’m Dolly, the production is set to take the stage around 2026.

The musical will feature some of her most famous songs, in addition to newly written music from Dolly herself. “I’ve written many original songs for the show and included all your favorites in it as well. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll clap, you’ll stomp, it truly is a Grand Ol’ Opera. Pun and fun intended,” shared Dolly.

Emmy-winner, Maria S Schlatter, is announced to be working closely with Dolly Parton to write the show’s songs. As for production, Dolly and her manager, Danny Nozell, will be co-producing the performance.

According to Variety, Dolly has been working on the stage adaptation for around 10 years. However, it’s not her first time working on a musical. She also wrote the music for the 1980 movie “9 to 5.”

The news comes just two months after the debut of Alicia Keys’ Broadway musical Hell’s Kitchen.
