Throughout the space you’ll find everything from notebooks and stationery to ceramics and cute posters, but woven throughout it all is one common theme–cats!

Owner Siming first opened Niconeco Zakkaya’s inaugural brick-and-mortar shop in 2019. Before then, the brand was operating as an Etsy shop for four years.

The name “zakkaya” is derived from the Japanese word “zakka,” accounting for all things that enhance your home, lifestyle, and appearance. After moving from Tokyo to NYC, Siming missed many aspects of Japan, particularly its zakka and stationery. Niconeco Zakkaya is Siming’s way of sharing this part of Japan with individuals all across the globe.

The space itself is super whimsical and aesthetically pleasing, invoking feelings of nostalgia. And though it errs on the smaller side, its selection of gifts and stationery is super well-curated.
