Southern Wildfire Smoke Reaches NYC, Blanketing The City In A Haze

Short-lived sunshine has given way to cloudy skies in NYC today–and it’s not because of a storm.

According to NBC, a number of wildfires are spreading across the southern part of the US today, Tuesday, February 27th, and the smoke is leading to hazy, smoky skies in NYC.

As of 3:30 p.m., NYC air quality is clocking in at a moderate rating of 71, according to AirNow.

If you are unusually sensitive to particle pollution, consider reducing your activity level or shorten the amount of time you are active outdoors.

NBC writes that wildfire smoke is expected to linger around NYC through Wednesday, February 28th, before clearing. Thankfully, it’s not expected to be even half as bad as the smoke we saw from last year’s Canadian wildfires.
