Another Storm May Bring Up To 4″ Of Snow To NYC Tomorrow
Those that have been sleeping with a spoon under their pillows are really making things happen as after more than 700 days (over two years) New Yorkers finally woke up this past Tuesday morning (January 16th) to more than an inch of snowfall–and there may be more where that came from!
A storm is on its way from the Northwest, bringing snow, ice, and rain with it, and by midday tomorrow, Friday, January 19th, New York City and the Tri-State area will likely see some more snow.
And considering NYC’s temperatures have been absolutely frigid lately–and even colder than Antarctica–Meteorologist Jeff Smith at ABC 7 says the city will likely see 1″-3″ of snow on Friday, making roads and sidewalks slippery.
The National Weather Service, on the other hand, is calling for the potential of 4″ of snow.
AccuWeather writes:
Around New York City, another general 1-3 inches of snow is in store on Friday, with higher totals not out of the question for Staten Island and southern parts of Brooklyn and Queens.
Experts at AccuWeather are also urging travelers to use caution as even a small amount of ice or a wintry mix can lead to dangerous travel. Plus, the frigid air that will linger after the storm will cause a hard freeze-up.
Temperatures in NYC on Friday (January 19th) will reach 31ºF but feel like 26ºF. And on Saturday (January 20th) they’ll only reach 24ºF but feel like a dangerously cold 5ºF.
So while those planning to set out on a skiing trip will be delighted, anyone spending time outdoors will need to bundle up due to the risk of hypothermia and frostbite.
