This Intimate Eatery Is Serving Maximalist Whimsy & ‘Chocolate Mousse From The 80s’

A new modern American restaurant recently opened its doors in the Flatiron District, and it’s bringing a mixture of maximalist whimsy and cozy, intimate vibes to NYC’s Lower East Side.

Dubbed Little Maven, the name means “little expert” or “little connoisseur,” fitting since it reflects the concept-driven ethos of the group behind it–they’re also the ones who thought up Flyfish Club, NYC’s private dining club that sold $14 million worth of NFT memberships before even opening its doors.

Two dining rooms seating a total of 115 guests, along with an additional 13 at the bar, make up the space, which aims to be “welcoming and warm.”

Inside boasts a high-end, modern look with high ceilings, a color palette of deep mossy green and whites, terracotta marbled Turkish tile walls, and hand-painted murals that add bursts of vibrant color throughout the space.

As for the food, guests can expect “an inviting neighborhood menu.”

That’s to say the menu boasts mouthwatering dishes like Caesar Cups with endive, charred broccoli, and garlic crumbs, Homemade Agnolotti with miso pumpkin, pumpkin seed pesto, and grana padano, Steamed Red Snapper with green Thai curry, eggplant, coconut, and sticky rice cake, and Steak Frites with crispy fries and caramelized cipollini onions.

For something sweet, the dessert menu pays homage to quintessential American desserts, with options such as the Banana Split and Chocolate Mousse from the 80s.

Rounding out the food menu is a beverage program that boasts a 150-200 bottle wine list of individual and bottle pours along with six speciality and six classic cocktails.
