A Mysterious Green Slime Is Being Secreted Onto NYC Streets
New Yorkers were dumbfounded after a post on X went viral of “green sludge bubbling up from the ground next to World Trade Center.” With tons replying to the post in awe, some even noting it’s “some ninja turtles shittt,” we couldn’t have said it better than the Ninja Turtle, Michaelangelo, himself, “Gotham is bonkers, yo.”
Numerous updates were later posted, noting its smell and the small crowd it attracted. However, the conspiracies were shortly squashed according to later insight that the mysterious green slime is actually just green dye.
The readers added context section on the original post now reads “This is water full of green dye. Plumbers frequently use harmless, fluorescent green dye to detect leaks in plumbing and sewage systems.”
Even though the puzzling goo was demystified, the post racked up a total of 25 million impressions, 4.9k comments and 8.1k reposts.
