The front row of fans packed into Prudential Center from all over the world for Iron Maiden. Die-hard fans flocked to Newark from the band’s home country of England as well as Scotland, Switzerland, Greece, Colombia and more!
The energy was undeniable, it always is when Maiden comes to town. There are so many reasons that keep us coming back for the talented gents in Iron Maiden. Here’s just a handful of why we can’t get enough of these metal icons.
Many fans at the sold-out Prudential Center show were also at the sold-out Barclays concert. For many fans, it was their first time seeing this Iron Maiden tour and tracks like “Can I Play With Madness” and “The Prisoner” haven’t been performed live in a decade.
The lead track of the setlist “Caught Somewhere In Time” hasn’t been performed since 1987 (before many young fans in attendance were born). Even for the old-timers, it was their first time seeing hidden gems like “Death of the Celts” and “Alexander the Great” live.
Senjutsu, the band’s 17th album was released in 2021 and they have been touring since last year all over the world in support of it! It was a chance to see new tunes “Days of Future Past” and “The Time Machine” performed live for the first time thanks to this tour!
Each song has its own identity, even if it’s on the same album. The backdrop changes to provide fans with a visual equal to go with the tracks. From the ticking of the clock before the set begins, to the time travel throughout the night all tells the story of this tour’s theme! The production is just so good and there’s always some really cool gadgets to see! We can’t forget Eddie, one of the most visual aspects of the show…
Whenever Eddie comes out onstage it’s amazing to see. This 10ft tall hunk is Iron Maiden’s mascot who made his first appearance in 1980. This tour, he’s donning a pretty badass gun. Ultimately, vocalist Bruce Dickinson had a bigger gun, sorry Eddie! The pyro-fused gun duel was a highlight of the night.
Flames shot all across the stage during “Hell On Earth.” Fans lost their minds during the fast-paced favorite “The Trooper.”
The last song of the set was “Wasted Years” which all of Prudential Center belted out with all of their might. It was a poetic ending as the 1986 album Somewhere In Time where the cover is one of Eddie time traveling, ending the journey of this stop during the Future Past Tour.
We’re so lucky to have the pleasure of seeing The HU support Iron Maiden on the U.S. leg of the tour. Mongolian culture was on display onstage and throughout the music. The HU combines traditional instrumentation and throat singing with metal! Recently the band released a cover of Iron Maiden’s “The Trooper” but hearing their incredible fusion live is something to witness!
The Future Past Tour began in Slovenia in May 2023 and Iron Maiden has toured in various continents, all over the globe since then. As they move through the states and end the year in South America, we’ll be waiting for Iron Maiden’s (and Eddie’s) return in the future.
